Our newsletter subject of study for the month of May is Sanskrit from Yoga Sutra III.33 which translates as "Through intuition all things are known".

It is said we are all born with an innate sense of who we are and what we are but as we meet with negativity and doubt this state of being becomes cloaked and seemingly lost. To be in the state of yoga is how those cloaks of darkness dissipates.

When start to trust, learn to be still and listen with our hearts we learn that everything we ever needed is there with us as it as always been. Trusting that we are a part of the divine, everything becomes clear again.

Intuition is not a practice it is a matter of surrendering to your higher good. Once you begin to trust this innate sense spontaneously it becomes a part of your consciousness. Something tugging at you - follow it because it's already known!

Cedar Ridge Preserves Hike

with Emily

Spring is here so it must be time for our hiking event with Emily at Cedar Ridge Preserves!

At an elevation of 755 feet, Cedar Ridge Preserve (formerly the Dallas Nature Center) is a slice of the hill country just 20 minutes from downtown Dallas.

Cedar Ridge Preserve is a natural habitat of 600 acres featuring about 9 miles of trails, native trees, grasses and wildflowers, butterfly gardens, limited picnic areas and wild mammals, birds, insects and reptiles.

Following the hike we will share light refreshments, and please feel free to bring your favorite post hiking fare!

We will meet at the park entrance.

Tues/Thurs Noon Bi-Lingual Variety Yoga

Based on the needs of our community we are pleased to announce that we will be offering a 12:00 noon one hour bi-lingual variety yoga class on Tuesdays and Thursday starting Tuesday April 16th.

If you or anyone you know would like to enjoy yoga in English, Spanish with a little Sanskrit thrown in for vibrational energy please join us.

Don't speak Spanish no problem it is a class for everyone!

Anticipation of Laughter Offsets Stress

A research team at Loma Linda University found that the mere anticipation of laughter can reduce the harmful effects of stress hormones. While awaiting a potentially humorous event, subjects blood levels were measured not only before but during and after. Stress hormones cortisol, epinephrine and dopac were reduced by 39%, 70% and 38% respectively. The mere expectation of laughter can elicit a hormonal response leading to improved immune function by building up antibodies and reduced pain levels from the increased endorphins.

An additional benefit of laughter is that it is free and can cause involuntary contraction of the abdominals and pelvic floor muscles. So settle in for a funny movie or stand up comedy and have a good laugh for your health.
